July 3: Fossil Hike, 6:00-7:00 PM
What does Lakeshore State Park have to do with Niagara Falls? Come find out and learn some Wisconsin geological history as you explore the Lannon stone lining the park searching for fossilized coral, trilobites, brachiopods, and cephalopods. Meet at the Park’s North Entrance, just west of Discovery World. All ages and abilities welcome, however hike will be along the rocks on a non-paved path so may be difficult for those with strollers, wheelchairs, or difficulty walking.
July 6: Prairie Walk, 9:30-10:30 AM
Summer means our prairies are in full bloom! Come join one of our Naturalists to learn about some of the more than 200 native plants in our park. With new species blooming every day, it’s a beautiful and colorful time to walk the trail and learn about our plants! Meet at the park’s north entrance, near Discovery World, all ages and abilities welcome!
July 10: Finding Fireflies, 5:30-6:30 PM
Stars aren’t the only thing lighting up the night sky at Lakeshore State Park during summer, fireflies have begun to emerge! Join our Naturalist for an evening hike in search of lightening bugs and learn all about this unique species! All ages and abilities welcome, hike will begin at the north entrance, near Discovery World.
July 20: Bird Watching Walk, 9:30-10:30 AM
Lakeshore State Park is home to over 70 species of native and migratory birds! Join us for a morning stroll to learn the basics of bird watching and see some of our feathered friends. Each bird hike is unique as migration causes our residents to change throughout the year. All ages and abilities are welcome, meet at the park’s north entrance near Discovery World. Binoculars recommended but not necessary.
