Explore the wonders of nature with the whole family through naturalist-led activities filled with summer fun!
Engage with the seasonal highlights of Mystery Lake and record your observations in your very own nature journal. Make a take-home souvenir filled with memories of the day and your discoveries! We provide materials like watercolors and colored pencils and supply prompts.
Get ready to slither like a snake or hop like a frog on our animal themed obstacle course! You’ll enjoy running, jumping, and climbing, just as the animals do in their own habitats.
Scoop up snails, dragonfly nymphs, and other macroinvertebrates in a classic ponding activity! Look for ecologically important creatures, learn to identify them, and then compare the difference between what you find at two of our ponds, Dragonfly and Teal.
Grab a net to catch colorful butterflies and other insects! Look for these creatures from the prairie, identify and learn about them, and make a take-home craft using recycled materials, inspired by the day’s butterfly and insect observations.
Learn more about what you’ll find under the summer sun at Schlitz Audubon during three themed guided hikes. Visit our observation tower to search for birds, gather on the shoreline to look for rocks and fossils, and take a hike on the Gateway Trail to explore the brilliant prairie plants.
Relax with nature-themed story time, complete with puppets!
Meet and learn about birds from our Raptor Program between 10:00am and 11:00am, and reptiles and amphibian ambassadors throughout the morning.
Upon check in, your family will receive a station guide to lead you to the fun. This program is designed for all ages; children must be accompanied by an adult. It will take place both indoors and outdoors.
