Friendship & Fun: ‘Elephant & Piggie’ Play at Milwaukee Youth Arts Center

Milwaukee, WI – This February, the Milwaukee Youth Arts Center is set to host the return of a beloved musical, “Elephant & Piggie’s ‘We Are in a Play!'”, presented by First Stage.

The show, based on Mo Willems’ award-winning Elephant & Piggie children’s books, promises a fun-filled and friendship-packed experience for families.

Directed and choreographed by First Stage Associate Artistic Director Michelle LoRicco, with music by Deborah Wicks La Puma and music direction by Jonathon Gideon, the production is a revival of a hit from the 2019/20 season.

It stars real-life friends James Carrington and Rachael Zientek, reprising their roles as Gerald and Piggie, respectively.

The musical explores the delightful dynamics of friendship through the adventures of Gerald the Elephant and Piggie the Pig, bringing laughter, lessons, and heartwarming moments to the stage.

“Elephant & Piggie’s ‘We Are in a Play!'” runs from February 24 to March 24, 2024, at the Goodman Mainstage Hall, located in the newly renovated Milwaukee Youth Arts Center.

Tickets start at $22, with performances suggested for adults, teens, and children ages 3 to 9. Given the limited availability for many of the shows, audiences are encouraged to secure their tickets soon either online at firststage.org or by calling the First Stage Box Office at (414) 267-2961.

The show also features special events, including a Pay What You Choose Performance on March 1, a Sensory Friendly Performance on March 9, a post-performance Tech Talk on March 10, and an ASL Interpreted Performance on March 17.

“Elephant & Piggie’s ‘We Are in a Play!'” is a celebration of friendship, as First Stage continues its mission to bring family-friendly, thought-provoking, and entertaining productions to Milwaukee’s vibrant arts scene.
