Sometimes the best places in Milwaukee are hiding right under our noses.
Don’s TV & Repair is a secretive speakeasy on Milwaukee’s southeast side, operating under the guise of an outdated TV & Repair shop.
Their build-your-own milkshakes alone make it worth a visit, but the decor will take you back to your nineties roots in the best way.
Our Calendar Editor Bridget recently visited with her family. Here’s her review and recommendations:
Don’s TV & Repair is a great dinner destination for a family or a parents night out.
Make reservations at donsmke.com/tvrepair and they will send you instructions with a secret code.
When you get there, let them know the code and they open the hidden door to let you in. The restaurant has an 80’s rec room vibe and is decorated with toy gremlins hanging on the wall.
They serve some delectable milkshakes that the kids will love and have 99 cent burger night on Wednesday evenings.
Definitely worth checking out!
Don’s social media is filled with photos of culinary creations that will delight your kids, like their famous Fruity Pebble Pancakes (pictured above) with fruity pebbles, cool whip, powdered sugar, and syrup.
You can build-your-own shake (boozy or not) in four easy steps, and top it off with a vintage treat like a Hostess Twinkie.
Their burgers garner rave reviews online.
The speakeasy’s nostalgic interior is a nod to 90’s parents with vintage electronics and retro brands like Nintendo.
For a parents night out, Don’s serves up cocktails like Hair of the Gremlin Bloody Mary and the Mandalorian Mule, boozy shakes like the Commodore and Sega Genesis, and late night eats including TV Dinners and All Day Breakfast.
Make a “service appointment” here since space is very limited.
Don’s TV & Repair is located 1100 S 1st St.
