New Ice Skating Rink Opens in Brown Deer: What Families Need to Know

Families in Milwaukee’s North Shore now have an exciting new option for winter recreation: an ice skating rink in the Village of Brown Deer.

Located at Community Square Park (8705 N. Deerwood Drive), the rink officially opens with a grand event on Friday, Nov. 22, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Here’s what you need to know:

Key Details About the Rink

  • Location: Community Square Park, 8705 N. Deerwood Drive, Brown Deer
  • Parking: On-street parking is available at the nearby Brown Deer Public Library (4301 W. Brown Deer Road).
  • Skates: A limited number of skates will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Families are encouraged to bring their own skates if possible.
  • Season Duration: The rink will remain open to the public through early March, weather permitting.

What Makes This Rink Special

The new rink is refrigerated and housed under an enclosed tent. This innovative setup ensures ice stability even in above-freezing temperatures, providing a cozy and consistent skating experience throughout the winter.

A Community-Focused Initiative

The rink is part of Brown Deer’s effort to enhance park usage and offer year-round recreational opportunities. With significant fundraising efforts led by MWC, over $200,000 was raised for the project, surpassing initial goals.

Donations of adult-sized skates are still being accepted to support the initiative.
