The holidays are just around the corner, and one of the most enchanting family traditions in Wisconsin is the Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) Holiday Train.
This festive train, adorned with thousands of twinkling lights and vibrant holiday décor, brings joy and holiday spirit to communities across North America, and it’s making 13 stops in Wisconsin this year from December 7th to December 9th, 2024.
This year’s Holiday Train tour will feature live performances by The Lone Bellow, a Nashville-based folk-pop trio, and Tiera Kennedy, a country singer-songwriter from Alabama. Families can enjoy the dazzling train as it rolls into town, bringing music, magic, and community togetherness.

Tips for Visiting the CPKC Holiday Train
- Arrive Early: The Holiday Train draws a crowd, so plan to arrive at least 30-45 minutes before the scheduled stop. This gives you a chance to find a good viewing spot and enjoy the festive atmosphere.
- Dress Warmly: December in Wisconsin can be chilly, so bundle up with hats, gloves, and warm layers. Hot cocoa in a thermos is a great idea for keeping warm while waiting!
- Bring a Donation: The CPKC Holiday Train partners with local food banks, and donations are a big part of the event. Bring along non-perishable food items to help support families in need during the holiday season.
- Be Ready for the Music: The live performances by The Lone Bellow and Tiera Kennedy are a highlight of the event. Plan to stay for the entire performance, which typically lasts about 30 minutes.
- Capture the Memories: Don’t forget your camera or phone to capture the sparkling train and your little ones enjoying the festive fun. The beautifully lit train makes for a picture-perfect holiday backdrop.
- Plan for Parking: Holiday Train stops are often in smaller downtown areas where parking can be limited. Scout out parking options in advance or plan to park a little further away and walk to the viewing area.
